Smiles

Smiles

A group of young children playing outside a dhobi Ghat (Laundry place) in Lahore. They had no toys, no electronic games, just a ball and their imagination. When I asked them if they wanted to get their photograph taken, they were a bit hesitant. Then I took a photograph and played it back on my screen. The wonder, the amazement, how wonderful it is to see the joy in innocence. This image was the last one taken of several. By the time, it was taken, the kids were having a blast and it really showed in their faces and smiles. It reminded me of William Blake's poem "A Nurse's Song"

When the voices of children are heard on the green And laughing is heard on the hill, My heart is at rest within my breast And everything else is still.
